Intuitive Painting Videos

Here are, for your inspiration, more time lapse videos showing the making of three wildly different intuitive paintings. “Space Lilli”, “For the Love of Flowers”, “Black Swan”.

I hope you are busy creating your own wild and intuitive paintings using the techniques from Lesson 1.

The technical advice videos are still at the bottom of the page.

Time Lapse- Intuitive Painting- Space Lilli

This canvas is a recycled project- never toss your canvas’es even if you dont like them- they can always be painted over and just think of the headaches and fun the archaeologists will have in the future deciphering your works and your motivation! Fun thought, right? I had made a poem on a dark background but decided it was time to surprise myself and redo the canvas. I use a paint marker from Windsor Newton- brown at times and enjoy using brushes, as well as my fingers and a spray bottle for water. Space Lilli ends up with lots of contrast- I went back to the dark background after all. The light and dark make each other stand out and makes me think of swimming in dark ponds, or space, and deep nights.

Time lapse- Intuitive painting- For the Love of Flowers

This painting has a lot of texture to it, bright colors and a feel of Springtime.

Timelapse Intuitive painting- Black Swan

This canvas rather quickly got a very characteristic curve to it. This is a shape that shows up for me often in my doodles but I try to limit its use in my paintings. This time I decided to go with it and I do enjoy the colorful swan that came out of it. I do enjoy hanging with ‘old friends’ but if I always stay with the same things just don’t develop. Have you noticed if there are certain shapes you repeat over and over again in your works?

Technical Tips

These are older videos discussing the best pallet to get, how to clean your pallet, and how to use a fan brush and the small round brush.

I am adding a list of Art Glossary Terms that will be filled out as I think to explain and you ask me questions. 🙂
